Currently February 2016

I honestly can't remember the last time I actually wrote a Currently, but here I am linking up with Farley with her new design and name, Oh Boy, It's Farley.

Most of it is self-explanatory.

I LOVE the mountain views from this house.  Living halfway up the mountain allows me to see such beautiful sunrises and sunsets.  Like this one from my back door.

I received a new cabinet and bookshelf from a school that closed last year and rearranged a lot of my stuff.  Now that I have moved my stuff, I can't find things!  Ugh!

I have been enjoying a lot more family time.  With the last snow, we spent a lot of time just hanging out. It sure has been nice.

What are you up to?

June 2015 Currently

Better late than never, right?  I have been so busy with a mini vacation to Louisiana and getting ready for the beach.  Now I have my Currently ready to link up with Farley from Oh Boy Fourth Grade!  Here it is!

It's the end of an era with Phineas and Ferb.  My son and I have enjoyed watching this show for years, and this Friday night, it will all be over!  I guess it is time, now that my son is actually growing out of the age of the show.  So sad for all of us!

On Friday we leave for the beach, so I really should be packing.  I just don't feel like it. All is need is my bathing suit, right?  That is packed!

I need a nap!  Today was my day to drive the 4 crazy boys to basketball camp, and I had to get up early.  Tomorrow I can sleep in a little.

I love summer time!  I get to spend days with my own children and go to the beach.  Best of all, I get to read whatever I want!  Many of those books will be highlighted on my summer linky ~ Book Talk Thursday!  Hop on over to find out more.  Now that is summer!

Enjoy your summer!

Currently January 2015

It's better late than never, right?!  I took a much needed break from blogging and am feeling refreshed.  I am so glad to use this Currently as a way to get back into the blogging world!

So, I am linking up with Farley from Oh Boy Fourth Grade for the January Currently!

My husband loves to watch Madame Secretary.  I haven't really paid attention to it, but I listen a little.

We got my daughter a new puppy, Emmett for Christmas.  He has fallen in love with me and follows me everywhere!  He is lying here with me on couch all curled up.  He is just so sweet!

So, tomorrow it is back to work, and I really need another day.  Yes, my Wanting and Needing are the same thing!  Our break was busy, busy, busy!  I want one more day to recoup!

Yes ~ I will post more often on my blog.  I have so many ideas in my head, but I just haven't gotten the posts done.  Out of my head and onto my blog!

Maybe one my posts in my head will go viral!  I don't know how that will happen, but I am hoping it will!

I wish I had the money to buy a beachfront home or condo!  I love watching Beachfront Bargain Hunt and really envy those who have their own places at the beach.  Maybe one day!

So, here's to a new year and new ventures!

December 2014 Currently

I can't believe it is December!  Though I am not a fan of the cold weather, I do enjoy this time of year.  It makes me feel young again!

I am linking up with Farley from Oh Boy Fourth Grade for the December Currently.

Being from Louisiana, I love watching NCIS: New Orleans.  I also had a secret crush on Scott Bakula in college when I watched and video taped (yes, with a VCR) episodes of Quantum Leap to watch.  Even though tonight is a rerun, I am watching it!

We had to put our dog down back in August.  It was sad, but she just couldn't go on much longer.  My daughter keeps asking about her, so my husband decided that it was time to get a new dog.  WHAT?!  I was going to wait until summer when I had time to work with the dog and be home with it.  Now on Saturday, the dog is coming from the local mutt rescue to live with us as my daughter's early Christmas present!  Yes, there will be pictures!

I went shopping on Thanksgiving night and had a blast with a friend of mine.  I got some awesome deals on some fun clothes.  Now I am going to wrap them from Santa to me!

I keep reading Cyber Monday extended emails and wanting to buy more.  I just need to hit delete!

After Thanksgiving, I made some gumbo for our Sunday School lunch with my leftover turkey.  Everyone loved it, so they asked for the recipe.  I want to share it with all of my readers as well.  So, enjoy it!  Click {here} or on the image below to grab your copy from my Dropbox!
I am ready for the Christmas season and can't wait to see the looks on my children's faces this Christmas!

November 2014 Currently

Ahh...it's here!  One of my favorite times of year!  OK, so I love lots of favorite times of the year, but the changes of seasons are so much fun.  I grew up with two seasons ~ summer and not as hot summer, so having four distinct seasons amaze me!

And it is Currently time with Farley from Oh Boy Fourth Grade!  Here goes!
My husband and I love this new show Madame Secretary.  I just hate that football makes it come on so late sometimes!

This weekend was downright cold!  About an hour away from us got 5 inches of snow on Saturday! BRRRR!  This week will be back to normal in the 60's.  I can handle that at this time of year.

After going trick-or-treating in the cold rain, we all have this funky cough. I am thankful for my honey and lemon essential oil, but I am running out pretty quickly.  It doesn't help that I spilled some of it this evening.

Actually I am not reading anything right now.  I just finished "H" is for Homicide (Kinsey Millhone Book 8).  I am going through the entire series and finished this on this morning while walking on the treadmill.
So this evening, I borrowed Wonder by R.J. Palacio from our library's eBook program.  I will start it tomorrow morning on the treadmill.  I heard it was a good read, so I am going to give it a whirl!

So what are you currently up to?  Link up with Farley at Oh Boy Fourth Grade for her November Currently!

October Currently

Oh my! It is finally October!  And that means it is Currently with Farley from Oh Boy Fourth Grade time too!

Yes, I am up REALLY early on a Saturday morning to work a consignment sale.  I have really gotten into those lately because I make more money on the clothes than taking them to a local kids' clothing resale shop.  I did one for my daughter's preschool and made quite a bit of money on the kids' old clothes and toys, plus their cut is a charitable donation!  It's a win-win!  Today I am working one with a friend of mine of to sell those items that didn't sell in the last sale.  All of the money I make is for new clothes for the kids.  So right now, the kids are still in bed, and I am enjoying my breakfast and coffee all alone ~ something I rarely get!

This weekend we are getting a cold front in Virginia which will bring us some cooler weather, and I can wear my fall clothes (see "wanting").

Saturday is grocery day, and I have to make my list.  It is pretty much the same every week, but I still have to make a list!

We are almost done with the PALS screening to check all students' reading ability, and I am overwhelmed!  In grades 1-6, there are 60 kids identified as not meeting the benchmark and plenty more who simply read below grade level!  In theory, I am supposed to provide interventions to them for 30 minutes a day ~ yes a day!  If I did that, I would not eat lunch or have a planning period!!  Luckily, that is only required for K-3, so I can make it work.  But it sure would be nice to have another reading specialist to help me meet the reading needs of every student in the school!!

And now for your treat!  I have reached 900 followers on Teachers Pay Teachers, and I want to celebrate!  I am having a 15% off sale through the weekend and Monday!  And there is a blog hop this weekend where I have my newest item FREE through the weekend, so snag it while you can!!

You might like to grab some of my fall or Halloween products too!

Have a wonderful weekend and October!  Happy fall y'all!

Currently ~ September 2014

It is September, my favorite month of the year because it is Birthday Month for me!  And, now it it time for my link up with Farley from Oh Boy Fourth Grade's monthly Currently.

My husband watched the 80's yesterday, and now the 90's are on.  It is so much fun to remember these times!

The weather was nice enough for me to take 2 convertible rides this weekend.  Love those and want my own convertible someday!  Maybe when the kids get older!!

We are having a problem with daycare/preschool.  It opens at 7:30, but I have to be at work at 7:30.  Most days my husband can take her, but some days he is out of town or has to be to work early.  I can't take her on those days and be on time.  When we enrolled her, they said on those days they would be open at 7:15 for me.  Now they won't do it, and we are relying on neighbors to take her, which is iffy sometimes.  We re considering changing her to the preschool my son went to, which is $20 cheaper a week AND serves breakfast and lunch.  It also opens at 6:30 AM.  It is not Virginia 5 Star Rated, but has the A Beka curriculum.  No problems for either of us.  What do you think?

Labor Day means fall is right around the corner!  Bring it on!

We need a new mattress, and all of my TPT money will go towards it!  We have a budget, so I know how much I need to save each month.

I have always wanted to to Europe, but Paris especially after taking 5 years of French.  I would love to go to New England, especially in the fall when the leaves change.  And as a Jimmy Buffett fan, I would love, love, love to go to Key West someday!

So, head on over and link up with Farley for her Currently!

July 2014 Currently

I can't believe it is the first of July!  In a little over a month, I am back to work.  But for now, I will enjoy my summer.  I am linking up with Farley from Oh Boy Fourth Grade for the July Currently.

My daughter is watching her Tinkerbell movie. After going to Disney, fairies have trumped princesses.

I bought a yummy smelling cantaloupe at the grocery store, but it is nasty!  Now I want a new one!

My workout sessions double in the summer.  I work out in the morning and then go walking in the evening.  My shorts get so nasty that I have to change them each time.  I need a couple more pairs to get through the week without washing clothes every other day.

My neighbors and I are still working out plans for the 4th.  I am not sure what we will do, but I am sure it will include fun!

Head on over to Farley's blog to make your own Currently and find out what everyone else is up to!

June 2014 Currently

I can't believe it is June, and my summer break has begun!  Usually, we are finishing up testing and filling our days with lots of busy work.  I am so glad that we don't have to do that this year!

I am linking up with Farley at Oh Boy Fourth Grade for her June Currently!

Do you see a common theme?  I really need to clean this house.  My son LOVES to play sports, and this baseball season has taken over.  I usually get a good cleaning in on the weekends, but we have had practices or games EVERY weekend.  By the time I get in from the sun, I am done!  This weekend was no different.  We had our mid-season tournament, and his undefeated team went all the way to the end to win it!  We still have 4 games to play after this tournament.   He is NOT the star player at all.  As a matter of fact, he is scared of the ball!!  But, he is ...
Gotta get him this shirt!
Here he is showing off today's "trophy".

So, tomorrow I start cleaning!  Then once it is done, I will relax, relax, relax!  I really don't plan to do much more than that.  Oh yeah, and make sure I meet up with my VA Blogger friends!

What are you up to?  Head on over to Farley's blog and link up to let us know!

April 2014 Currently

I cannot believe that in less than 2 months, we will be out of school and on summer vacation!  It all came to light when I noticed that Farley's Currently is up and ready to go!

OK ~ so the common theme is the warm weather!  Last week at this time, I had a snow day.  Today my car thermometer read 77!  I rode all the way to my meeting with the sunroof open!!  I love this weather, but my allergies are trying to get the best of me.  I will beat these!!!

I really need motivation to finish up some projects I am working on.  One of them I need for tomorrow, and I have NO motivation!

My hours are 7:30-3:00.  Our kids' hours are now 7:45-2:45 because of snow days.  We had to add 10 minutes to the beginning of the day and 10 minutes to the end to make up for all of our lost time.  At least my hours don't change!  The kids' last day is May 23rd, but I have workdays through May 30th.  Then, I am off for the summer!!  Like I said, less than two months left of school!

What are you currently up to?  Link up with Farley of Oh Boy Fourth Grade and let us all know!

Oh' boy fourth grade

1.
Most are pretty self-explanatory, but I just wanted to pass on a little tidbit of information about my laptop.  A few weeks ago, I updated my avast! antivirus, which disabled my wireless card.  I had to go to a friend to get it fixed.  Then I reinstalled it Friday night and restarted my computer.  BAM!  Turned on my laptop today to NO keyboard functionality!  After researching the problem ~ yes ~ it was avast! again!  Uninstalled it and had my keyboard back.  Word to the wise, avoid avast! and all of their updates!  I got a new antivirus and hope to be pleased.

2 Truths and a lie:

1.  Yes, I am un-American.  I don't like ketchup.  Makes me ill to smell it!

2.  I have taught in the same school for 17 years, and there are only 4 teachers who have been there longer than me.  Scary!

3.  I like to WALK on the treadmill and read a good book.  I am not a runner and really have no desire to be one.

2.  Have you been through the blog hop yet this weekend?  Today is the last day!  Click on the image below to take you to Comprehension Connection to get started and grab your freebies!
http://comprehensionconnection.blogspot.com/2014/01/loving-literacy-blog-hop.html

3.  Had a snow day on Wednesday and enjoyed a fun game of Candy Land with my kids.  This was Ginny Beth's first time playing!

Did you know that playing board games helps with math skills?  It helps kids with addition and subtraction strategies since they can work on counting to know how many spaces to go to get to a goal.  Interesting tidbit of information!

4.  Teachers Notebook is having a big sale where everyone gets 10% off their orders with no code needed!  My entire shop is 20% off, meaning you get 28% off!  Head on over and get some shopping done!

November Currently

Oh my!  It is November, and the weather is wonderful! The mountains outside my house are gorgeous, and I am loving every minute of it!  I am linking up with Farley at Oh Boy Fourth Grade for her the November Currently.
Fall is just wonderful!  I never really enjoyed it until I moved to the mountains of Virginia where this is my view!

I think the rest of them are pretty self explanatory!  For my yummy pin, I had these at one of the Buffett concerts, and I really want to make these for myself!  {And I just learned how to embed pins!!}
I got this one from Cookies on Friday, and now I am going to have to get the ingredients to make these and try them!  Yummy!

Head on over and link up with Farley for the November Currently!

October Currently!

Oh my!  It is October!!  This is the busiest month of the year for us in our house.   It seems that there is always something going on!  So, I am taking a break from the busy-ness of life and linking with Farley from Oh Boy Fourth Grade for her Currently linky!

Most of these are pretty obvious!  I love watching House Hunter, especially the International ones, but my husband doesn't like those as much.  Tonight they are in Dublin, which would be so much fun to visit!

Tonight my son's soccer game was super exciting!  He made a goal against a really strong player on the other team because of his quick thinking.  Then, he and his teammates worked together to make an awesome play, scoring a goal!  It looked like they planned it with power and finesse, as his coach says!

My daughter likes to get out of bed multiple times to go to the bathroom, and it is driving me batty.  Most of the time she doesn't really need to go to the potty.  She just doesn't want to go to sleep!

Now for my trick!  I use Photobucket for all of my blog photos.  I was running out of room in my Google account to store my pictures, so all of my photos go through Photobucket, where I have paid for unlimited bandwitdth and lots of storage!  So worth it! Plus, it so easy to edit them in there when I need to!  Try it out!

So, head on over to Farley's blog to see what everyone else is Currently doing!

September Currently!

I love September because it is "Birthday Month"!  Yes, I love my birthdays and embrace them!  I am still a kid at heart!

So, quickly, I am linking up with Farley at Oh Boy Fourth Grade with my  September Currently!

Now for some explanations!

I never get to watch the news since I have to be at work by 7:30 every morning and on hall duty!  I love just hearing what is going on in the world in the morning, especially when it is more fun news.

The grill is not working properly, so we are going to try to clean it before we buy a new one.  Ugh!

We are considering moving from our wonderful neighborhood to the school district where I work because of the schedules.  We have neighbors who may want to buy our house, but we have not heard from them.  If they don't want it, we will probably just stay here.

My three things I want to do in September:

1.  I want to spend  more time with my family and less time here.  Easy enough, right?!
2.  We are trying to save money in case we have to move and have other expenses.  Plus, it is a challenge.
3.  I really need to get rid of junk food in this house.  We eat pretty healthy, but summer was not good for us.  If I can get rid of it, we will be healthier all the way around!

So, what are you currently doing?  Link up with Farley and then see what everyone else is doing!

Currently AND Five for Friday!

It's back!  It's back!  Five for Friday is BaCk!  I am linking up my five random pictures for this week with Doodle Bugs Teaching!

Here they are, in no particular order!

1.  August Currently ~ I am linking up with Farley from Oh Boy Fourth Grade for another month of fun!
I have spent the entire last few weeks potty training,  and now we are getting ready to move Miss Ginny Beth into her new room.  We have moved my son's bunk beds out of his, and now he loves his big boy bed!

Yes, I said it!  I long to go back to school and get back into a daily routine. I am not a nice person when I am not in one!  Just ask my kids!

What I must have:
1.  Money for the teacher week back!  That is one of the FEW times we get to go out for lunch, and I take advantage of it!
2.  I walk ALL day long, so I have to have cute, comfy shoes!
3.  And, TPT is my go to place for anything these days!  I can't live without it!

2   My son's new "room".  He is still in the same room but with a new bed and all!  He picked out the comforter himself!  It is still a work in progress, but this is his new reading space!

3.  We spent the day at the Frog Pond, a local pool on Tuesday with a friend of ours.  It was chilly but fun!  This weather has been crazy!

4.  Sunday Zack played mini golf at a place not too far from us.  It was really neat!  It was a blacklight course!  So much fun!

5.   Have you checked out my Book Talk Thursday linky yet?  You can join in any time during the week with a fun book review!  I have really enjoyed checking out some super fun books!  Plus, there is an added bonus when you link up!  Go check it out!
So,what did you do this past week?  Head on over and link up with Farley and Doodle Bugs Teaching and then go see what everyone else is up to!

And, stop by on Sunday for a fun freebie and blog hop with over 20 Virginia bloggers!  I didn't even know there were so many of them!  Can't wait for the fun!
