It's finally starting to feel a bit like fall here in Virginia. OK, so we had a chilly spell and then we are back to warm temperatures, but I am ready for fall. So is Michael Hall in his fall poetry book, Wonderfall (affiliate link).
Book Summary
The book is a collection of poems, titled with the word "fall" for "ful", that takes us right through fall. Each poem uses a great deal of descriptive language, such as alliteration and onomatopoeia, to help children see and feel what each part of fall is filled with. It creates a fun picture of what happens throughout the season of fall.
Classroom Application
This is a no-brainer! Not only do the pictures show us what happens in fall, but the words in the poem capture what happens throughout the season. It lends itself to great fluency work, but even better, it makes a great springboard for writing poetry in any grade level.
