Back to School Five for Friday

This week our kids came back to school, and we were busy!  So this Five for Friday is packed!

This week I stayed busy running to find out more about the students in the school.  We merged with a school that closed, gaining about 70 students.  We knew nothing about them, so it has been interesting.

Here are some of the fun things we did this week.

I work for an hour and 15 minutes with a combo 1st/2nd classroom.  My friend Sarah at Learning is for Superstars had this fun idea to help them get used to using dabbers.  I love how they came out!

I spent some time in my friend's second grade class.  She was introducing and reviewing various Thinking Maps.  Here is their bubble map for Froggy.

For the first few weeks of this year, I am reading Tuck Everlasting with the fifth graders.  I hate to admit I have never read it, and I just couldn't seem to put it down!  What a great book!

I made my markers for the kids to use.  Now they have erasers!

Our PTA brought in this fun display and yummy goodies for us today!

I am ready for a break this weekend and am ready for another week next week!

  2. Isn't Tuck Everlasting a great story? We read it in my class one year, and all of the kids L.O.V.E.D. it! Best of all, the kiddos were motivated to read some challenging vocabulary:)
