Five for Friday ~ August 22, 2014

I survived the first full week of school, and boy, was it long!  I am linking up to share it through Doodlebugs Teaching's Five for Friday!

Here is a peek at my week!

1.  My little girl started preschool on Monday.  It is actually still the summer camp sessions, but we are starting full day for the babysitting at the same place.  She is loving it!

2.  I love, love, love working with the fourth grade students, and I get to be in their writing class.  Their teacher is phenomenal with writing, teaching it just the way I have always wanted to teach it.  The kids made a "Heart Map" to keep in their notebooks when they needed to think of something to write about.  I made one too.  Here is mine!
3.  I have been working with one of the third grade teachers on incorporating the Daily 5.  This week we worked on Read to Self.  Here is her class's I-chart.
4.  I don't usually read the editorials in our local paper, but my husband does.  He pointed this one out to me.  It was written by my former co-teacher.  I really love how she says it all in so few words!
The supervisor she is speaking to called the teachers in our county "crybabies" because we simply asked for resources and raises. We are one of the lowest paid counties in the area.  I could go work for a neighboring district and make $6000 more a month, but I love where I work!

5.  Have you hopped along the Blasting Off to a Great Year Blog Hop yet?  So many great ideas, tips, and freebies along the way!  Click {here} or on the picture below to head over to my post and get started!

What have you been up to this week?  Head on over to Doodle Bugs Teaching and let us know!

  2. When I was in undergrad, we created something similar to the heart map. It's such a great idea! And fourth grade is the best! Hope GB is loving preschool. We get to do that this time next year...not sure I'm ready for it.
