It's no secret that I love Kwik Stix, and so does my daughter. She paints with them all the time, and we never have a mess to clean up. But as I started thinking about new ways to use them, I realized they can be more than just an art tool; they can be used for so much more in your own classroom!
Name Writing
Use them for practice with writing names. Young students need a lot of work with the alphabet and using the Kwik Stix will help them with fine motor skills as they write their names.
No Mess Art Center
That's right! What a great way to allow your students to be creative as they use Kwik Stix and make NO mess at all!
On Their Work
OK, so I'm not a worksheet person, but we do need to assess students' ability to think for themselves sometimes. Using Kwik Stix instead of those messy BINGO dabbers will allow students to work on worksheets and still have fun!
Older students can even use them on group projects to create many different ways to show what they know. Simple murals can be made, and they are so vibrant that posters will look amazing!
On Writing Assignments
Your students write because they need to write. But young authors like to illustrate their writings. Using Kwik Stix on many different assignments helps them show their creativity while they keep everything clean and neat. Thin Stix are perfect for making pictures because they make such small lines.
There are so many other ways to use Kwik Stix in your classroom for Back to School! What are some ways you could use them in your classroom?

I would use them in our classroom makerspace. These are really cool. Thanks for sharing about them too, I hadn't heard about them before.
ReplyDeleteThat would be a great use for them! They are so amazing and can be used for so many different things!

these are great ideas! I have never tried these before.
ReplyDeleteI just won a prize package in June from the 3rd anniversary of the #TeacherFriends Twitter Chat. I was so excited, but had never heard of them before and wasn't really sure how to use them for more than just art work. Your blog post above was such a help to me...thank you! What great ideas!! I think another way I would use them is when we make Plot Maps or create Venn Diagrams. Would be so colorful AND fun for the students to use! :)
ReplyDeleteThose are great ideas! Even the older kids could use them for so many things. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your Kwik Stix!
