Book Summary
When Marjorie (Jorie) goes to live with her aunt who has just returned from India, she can't wait to explore the large house and grounds. She finds a strange book in her bedroom filled with unusual pictures and crazy words. After saying some of the words aloud, a window opens in her room. She knows she has something rather unusual in her midst.
Once she meets Rufus, the young boy in the house next door, her adventure really begins. She learns from a cat that she is supposed to go to a magical land and help save the "stones" and bring them back to be used for good. She jumps into the "tarn" and finds out more about her mission.
But what happens when the evil Professor Schrinch finds out about these magical stones in this magical place? Jorie and Rufus go on their search together in the magical land but are followed by the evil ones. Their adventure is full of dragons, unusual creatures, and fiery caves. What will happen? Will Jorie find the stones and return them to their rightful owner?
