A Turkey for Thanksgiving on Book Talk Thursday

Students will learn important lessons about what they say from the book A Turkey for Thanksgiving!

Who wants that turkey for Thanksgiving?! This turkey was in my backyard, and I really wanted it for Thanksgiving. Moose also wanted A Turkey for Thanksgiving in Eve Bunting's book. {Affiliate link provided.}

Book Summary

Moose wants to have a perfect Thanksgiving dinner, so he invites all of his friends. As he goes out to get Turkey, Turkey tries to hide. Turkey thinks that Moose wants him to come over for Thanksgiving, so they can all eat him for dinner. What Turkey doesn't realize is Moose and his friends all want him to come be a guest for Thanksgiving dinner.

Classroom Application

This book opens a great opportunity to talk to students how what we say makes a difference. When Moose says they want Turkey for dinner, Turkey is confused, as she should be. Teaching students this important lesson will help them to think about what they say and how it sounds. Eve Bunting has also included some figurative language the kids will enjoy.

Students enjoy this book and will learn some important lessons from A Turkey for Thanksgiving each year and every day!

Pin this for later, so you don't forget! And I invite you to link up once again! I will be taking next week off for Book Talk Thursday, so everyone can enjoy time with family and friends! Happy Thanksgiving!
