That's right! It has been a cRaZy week, to say the least! I am linking up with Kacey at Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday!
1. On Monday afternoon, I saw this wonderful closing on the local TV station's website! We had a "cold day" on Tuesday, but I had little motivation since I felt so horrible with this yucky cold that is still lingering! So, I sat all day and just piddled around on Facebook and just did, well, nothing!
2. When we went back to work on Wednesday, everything was messed up, so I winged it with my kindergarteners. Instead of doing the same old ABC tracking, we did something a little different. I took some of the letters they have learned out of the alphabet and gave them to the kids. They had to tell me the letter, the sound, and a word that begins with the letter or is in the middle of the word before putting it in the right place. What fun! This will be done a LOT more often!
3. I have been working on nonfiction text features with my third and fourth graders. They just don't get it! The fourth graders even had the nerve to tell me that their teacher said to NOT read the captions! Hello! I know better than that! So, I found this really great freebie foldable from Amy's SMART Designs. We worked on it together and are going to do the scavenger hunt next week.
4. Have you been to Literacy Land yet? If not, you MUST go! Twenty reading specialists have been working together over the course of the past two months to bring you a blog filled with literacy ideas! All week we have introduced ourselves by focusing on different aspects of reading, and today is writing. I am highlighting myself today, along with three others! And , today is the last day to enter for a chance to win one of four $25 TPT gift certificates and get the prize pack, which will be emailed this weekend! Head over now!
5. And the last little bit is a bit of a rant, so bear with me! I have had avast! security suite on my computer for ages, so when they tell me to update, I do. Last night I was online, and it told me to update on my laptop and restart, so I did. When I did, BAM, no wireless! It couldn't even find it! After playing and playing and trying to figure it out, still nothing. So, tonight my laptop is going to a neighbor who fixed my last computer problem to be worked on. Has anyone else had this problem? It is super frustrating to say the least! So, this weekend I will be on the old desktop and my VERY limited work laptop.
Hope everyone stayed warm and had a wonderful week! Head on over to Doodle Bugs Teaching to find out what else is going and link up too!

Sorry to hear about your computer! That is definitely no fun. I am glad your kindergartners really enjoyed the letter activity. Sounds like fun!

Oh I feel your pain! My laptop died last month and a friend was generous enough to lend me his desktop but it ties me down and I don't know it very well! I miss my friend!
ReplyDeleteSo how cold was it? (on Tue. when school was canceled) This sure has been a crazy month!
