Using Familiar Text to Teach Cause and Effect {FREEBIE}

Oh, this beautiful spring weather!  It is wonderful!  I have been sitting under the deck on our patio enjoying the breeze and sun.  Ahhh...now for the beach!

I am spending my every moment with third grade helping them prepare for the upcoming state tests.  They are only 3 weeks away, and we have a LOT to do!

This week our focus is cause and effect.  One of the things I like to do with students is to use familiar texts to teach or reinforce concepts.  It really helps them to focus on the skill or strategy and not the words in the text.  So, I am using Jack and the Beanstalk this week to review cause and effect.  Then I will use various passages and books for the students to practice.  And this version is so much fun!
I made these graphic organizers to help them with cause and effect.  There are two in the file, but I only had a picture of one.I call them "Cause and Effect Ladders".  Click here or on the picture below to grab them.

I am off to enjoy the rest of my weekend!
