OK, so I am a reading teacher, and I usually focus on reading, but tonight was one of the most exciting nights in our school ~ Math Fair! The kids and parents come out in droves to enjoy solving puzzles and doing a little bit of math. Here is where we got the premise for the idea:
www.mathfair.com.
In the past, we have Math Nights, where we get the usual parents ~ the ones who don't even need to be there. So, last year we came up with a new plan ~ get the kids involved in creating the puzzles/games to make them their own. It worked! Our small community school was packed to the gills with parents and students we NEVER see at events! This year may have been even bigger! My son, who doesn't even go to school there, loves it and looks forward to it each year. We went around together solving puzzles and problems, many of them on his own. {Remember, I am the READING specialist, not the math specialist.}
Here are some pictures from our fun night!

All in all, it was a super fun night! I am exhausted though!!
Until next time!
