Book Talk Thursday ~ The Adventures of Ai

I was contacted a few weeks ago to review an eBook for you, my readers.  I chose to do it on Book Talk Thursday!

The book, The Adventures of Ai is an age old story from Japan about a young girl who goes on an adventure of a lifetime.  After her father has been away from three years as a protege of Leonardo da Vinci.  She takes off on her horse to find a small hidden treasure at the top of the mountain.  At eleven years old, she leaves her mother to find this treasure.  Along the way she meets talking trees, rides on the back of a crane, meets a lion wolf, and encounters many other adventures.

Perfect for preteens, the story helps them as they encounter daily struggles in their own lives.  It is also shows a wonderful relationship between humans and nature and how they can help each other out in so many ways.

I love how the book includes many different art forms throughout the book, including poetry and art.  It is also perfect for helping students see how nonfiction can inspire stories of fiction.  The author, Craig T. Bouchard uses his own experiences to show how the story came about for the reader.
Kids will also enjoy the app they can play.  They can travel along with Ai on her adventures and earn points in a worldwide game.  It is free on the iTunes app store and Google Play.

To find out more about the entire experience, watch the video below.
The author is also giving away a copy of the eBook to two lucky readers!  Just enter in the Rafflecopter below!

You can also purchase the book through iTunes, Google Play, Google Books, and Amazon.  The book is between $2.49 and $2.99, depending on where you purchase.

My hope is that this book will help preteens see their fullest potential and embrace their dreams, no matter the obstacle!

*I received a free copy of the book for review purposes.  The opinions in the review are my own.
