Five for Friday ~ August 1, 2014

What?!  It's August!  I can't believe I go back to work on Thursday.  I actually have a half day training on Monday, but that doesn't count does it?!

I am linking up with Kacey at Doodlebugs Teaching with my last week of summer and Five for Friday!

My aunt, uncle, cousin, and his son came in for a couple of days to visit.  We had a blast just hanging out and showing them around town.  Here is a peek at our week!

1.  We spent the first day out on the lake.  The kids had fun riding on the boat and swimming.

2.  On the way back to my parents's house, we stopped at this little produce stand and got some zucchini and squash ~ 5 for $1!  Can't beat it!!

The next day we went sightseeing around Roanoke.

3.  We went to the Virginia Museum of Transportation.  The kids had gotten free tickets from the library.  While walking in, a kind lady gave us two more tickets to get in FREE!!  What a great outing!

4. We went up to the Mill Mountain Star and then headed downtown for some Bayou Snowballs!  Since they are from Louisiana, they felt right at home!

5.  After they left, my brothers gave Zack their old XBox360, which he had been saving for.  Here he is enjoying it.

Yes, that is an old tube TV, but we are making it work!  One day we will have a real TV down in the basement, but this one works.

What have you been up to this week?

  1. There is nothing better than a produce stand! That's the only place we bought our produce when I was growing up in upstate NY! I always feel so good when I buy from stands because I get to see the person who is profiting.

Glad to see you enjoying your summer!

  2. My son has an old tube tv for his video games too. The graphics don't look as well as they would on a HD or flatscreen but hey, it teaches him that things are more important to spend our money on! Maybe someday, but for now that's it!

    1. So true! Eventually we will have to upgrade since we use the same TV while on the treadmill, but we keep putting it off. I want to make sure it is the perfect TV too!
