Book Talk Thursday ~ Pinkalicious Eggstraordinary Easter

Thursday is here, and it is time for Book Talk Thursday!

Easter is right around the corner, and I always think about bunnies, chicks, and flowers.  But this year, Ginny Beth is all about the Pinkalicious books!  I found this little gem at our Buy One, Get One Free book fair that she just loves: Pinkalicious: Eggstraordinary Easter.

At first I thought that only little girls would enjoy this book, but as I read it, I realized it is perfect for helping students with an important reading skill:  making inferences!   The book takes place on Easter morning after Edgar Easter Bunny has left Pinkalicious a note for Easter.  He sends the family on a scavenger hunt all over town to find clues that lead to their Easter baskets.  Though some of the places they go on a Sunday morning are a little far-fetched, the clues are perfect for helping young students make inferences about where the next clue can be found.

While reading the story to students, you can have them think about where the next clue is based on the clues in the notes.  Students will have fun as they go on the hunt with Pinkalicious and her family, making inferences as they go along.
