Five for Friday ~ December 13, 2013

It's Friday the 13th, and I am not superstitious.  I just needed a good way to introduce today's post.  I am linking up again with Kacey from Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday.

1.  Monday was a "snow" day.  For once the district where my son goes to school and the one where I work got it together!  We were off on the same day and had a fun day.  We went to Walmart and picked up this little bit of fun!  Oh my!  They were tiny and kind of hard to put together, but it sure was fun!

2.  I have been working on digraphs with my first graders.  They are really struggling with wanting to say the individual sounds instead of the digraph.  We have been working with the books from the Digraphs Activity Pack from Laura at Over the First Grade Rainbow.  Here is part of the sh book.  Isn't it cute?  After the kids put the sh in the blank, they had to match the pictures to the words.  Cute and fun!

3.  Since we have been working on digraphs, I made a fun game with some of my fun graphics from Graphics from the Pond called "Peek!"  It is a take on the popular bang games, but with Peek! cards instead of Bang! cards.  The students had fun with it!  You can grab it from my TPT store {here} or by clicking on any picture below.

4.  We had a "Tacky Sweater" contest at school on Thursday.  Here are my friend Leah and I in our tacky sweaters.

We really should have won, but the kids voted.  They picked these two.  One of them is not even a sweater!  Am I a little bitter??  Maybe!

5. The other day my son came home with a something he wrote earlier this year.  It made me smile because I definitely helped him with this all!  Love that he loves to read now ~ something I never thought would happen!
So, what have you been up to this week?  Let us know and link up with Doodle Bugs Teaching!  While you are there, find out what everyone else has done too!

  1. Omg! I love the sweater idea for the teachers. We may have to do it as my school.
