Five for Friday ~ March 6th

What a week!  It has been quite interesting, and I am exhausted!  Don't even want to think about next week after we all lose an hour of sleep!  UGH!  In Friday style, I am linking up with Kacey at Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday!

Here are my five random things!

1.  I have to start off with the best thing this week because who wants to save the best for last?  My little girl finally said her name!  She is a little over two, and we have been trying to get her to say it for quite some time.  Tonight, she saw a picture of herself and said, "Ginny"!  Then I said, "What is your name?"  She replied, "Ginny!"  Love that girl!
2.  We had a snow day on Wednesday with some real snow that was gone by lunch time.  Ugh!  I really wanted to be snowed in, but it did get us a 2-hour delay on Thursday.  The kids had fun playing in the snow.  Here is Zack and his friend sledding in the snow/mud.  Now bring on spring!!!
3.  Today was Fun Friday in the Reading Center.  I made this super fun activity for my third graders who are working on adjectives.

The students matched the adjectives in the frames to the nouns on the fuzzies {from The 3AM Teacher} to make a phrase.  Then they illustrated it and wrote a sentence using the phrase. Here they are working on them.

cold flower ~ love the ice on the flower

4.  Another Fun Friday activity we did today was play a game called Chunk Stacker.

The kids had to draw tiles to make words. If they were unable to make a word, their turn ended.  What fun!  They really had fun reading those non-words and realizing they were not words.  They also learned some new words at the same time.  This is a perfect game that I pull out when I have nothing else that will do!

5.  Lots of giveaways out there now!  I am helping out Donna at Hokie Teach with her 100 Follower giveaway!  She is a Virginia blogger and has some great ideas to share too!  Two Rafflecopters are in place for prizes from many bloggers!
