Good Things Come in 3's

What a crazy few days!  We went back to school on Monday, and I have sat through many meetings:  some good, some procedural, and some so-so.  Today was our county wide professional development day.  We have not done one of these in years, but it was fun.  I really enjoyed seeing and collaborating with other teachers.  That is what it is all about!

I have some great new ideas to take back to my little room that will be easy and fun!  We went to three informative sessions today!

My first session was interventions for struggling readers and gave me some new insight into activities that I use quite often.  Different ways to do the same ol' same ol' makes students think learning is fun.  My favorite activity was using the tiles in a floor to blend and segment words.  Wow!  Something that is free and gets kids moving ~ two of my favorite things!

The second session focused on using iPads in the classroom. The apps we looked at were not apps that we had and had to purchase.  We had fun, but there has to be a way to purchase the apps.

My final session focused on grammar minilessons.  Who said grammar was fun?  Well, this was so much fun!  We played games to use adjectives with younger kids and used literature for them too.  We used pictures to make powerful sentences.  I so wish everyone could have enjoyed this session with me!

So, those are the first three good things!

Here are the other three!

I won three different giveaways in the past few days.

The first one was Heather at The Busy Busy Hive.  It was the Once Upon a Time Magical e game, which will be so much fun to play with my students.  Thank you, Heather!
The second giveaway was with Lori at Teaching With Love and Laughter .  I won the second grade Grammar Games book.  This will be so much fun to use with my small groups!  Thank you, Lori!

The third giveaway was from Mel at Frog Spot.  I won a year of the Premium Graphics Club!  I love these graphics and will use it to add one more year of fun graphics!   Thank you, Mel!

I am participating in Bedford, Love, and Teaching's 100+ follower giveaway.

Tonya at Tonya's Treats for Teachers can't get enough of giveaways!  She is having a big one now and will again at 500 followers! She is almost there, so if you don't follow, do so now!

Cindy at All Things Teachery is having her (almost) 100 followers giveaway with fun prizes to make any teacher happy!

Tomorrow is back to work in my room all day.  I cannot wait to get it all finished!  Thursday the students all come to meet their teachers.  It will be fun to see how everyone has grown over the summer.    I hope to have pictures of my room tomorrow or Thursday.  Keep watching!

Until next time!
